“VeryDarkMan is a ‘Necessity’ in our Society” – Seun Kuti

Nigerian musician and activist Seun Kuti has recently expressed his admiration for social activist Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, describing him as a “necessity” in today’s society.

In a recent Instagram live session, Seun Kuti became visibly incensed when show promoter Paulo tagged him along with other celebrities like Davido, Pocolee, and the likes, asking them to choose between him or VeryDarkMan. This request struck a chord with Kuti, who expressed his disappointment at the trivialization of the role of social activists in society and the need to respect the work of people like VeryDarkMan.

As the Live session went on, Seun Kuti passionately defended activist Adeyemi Olusoga, known as VeryDarkMan, against Pauloo’s request. Kuti emphasized that even figures like Christ were not immune to criticism and argued that people like VeryDarkMan deserve recognition for their selfless service.

Kuti further denounced attempts to trivialize or discredit the work of social activists, insisting that they are vital for a just society.

“Give his fame to other people and watch them monetize it . How do you even hate on someone standing for the vulnerable people? This man here goes to lengths to help people. What is his gain ? No billionaire cares about the poor , the rather want to use them . Paulo asking me publicly to choose side was disrespectful. Even if he feeds me , he will never order me around . Show me one person who doesn’t make mistakes ,VDM is a savior , even Christ people still didn’t like him”, Seun said.

Recently, it was reported that the blogger, VeryDarkMan, took to social media to rebuke Paulo Okoye for his alleged attempts to “cancel” him. The incident was sparked by Okoye’s perceived efforts to undermine VeryDarkMan’s work and diminish his influence in the social justice space, which Martins decried as an act of aggression.

Adding fuel to the fire, it was further reported that talent manager Paulo Okoye had brazenly challenged prominent Nigerian figures such as Seun Kuti, Davido, and Cubana Chiefpriest to pick sides between himself and Martins Otse, VeryDarkMan

In a viral video that made waves on social media, VeryDarkman unleashed a scathing response to talent manager Paulo Okoye’s attempts to draw attention to himself. Speaking directly to Okoye, VeryDarkMan made it clear that Okoye’s vast wealth held no sway over him and could not silence his dedication to social justice.

He urged the talent manager to stay off his beef with Iyabo to avoid being disrespected by him. ‘Paulo your money doesn’t move me. I don’t worship money and nobody is feeding me online,” he said. Referring to Paulo in another clip, VDM said: “You just talk like old man wey no get sense.” VDM also made a bold claim about Iyabo using a blog to bash Davido and then showing up at his party.
