TAKE IT BACK MOVEMENT CONDEMNS ATTEMPTS BY THE NIGERIA POLICE FORCE TO SILENCE CRITICISM AND TRUTH ABOUT THE #ENDBADGOVERNANCEINNIGERIA PROTESTS

The Take It Back Movement strongly condemns the recent demand by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for Amnesty International to retract its publication on the violent crackdown during the #EndBadGovernance protests in August 2024.
It is deeply disheartening and shameful that, instead of investigating the crimes and holding its officers accountable, the NPF has chosen to suppress and deny the accounts of victims.
The #EndBadGovernance protests were marked by numerous human rights violations, excessive use of force, and unwarranted brutality against peaceful protesters.
Contrary to the NPF’s claims, there is ample evidence and testimony corroborating Amnesty International’s findings. The Take It Back Movement commends the courage of those who have come forward to share their experiences of unjust treatment by law enforcement officers.
This retaliatory move by the NPF undermines democracy and freedom of speech. Suppressing the truth only further erodes public trust in institutions meant to protect and serve the people. Instead of silencing calls for justice, the NPF should focus on investigating these allegations and working to improve police conduct during public demonstrations.
The Take It Back Movement remains steadfast in its commitment to defending the rights of Nigerian citizens and opposing any attempts to stifle the truth or intimidate the public.
