URGENT: WE DEMAND THE IMMEDIATE AND UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE OF OMOYELE SOWORE

The Take It Back Movement (TIB) Rivers State strongly condemns the arrest of Omoyele Sowore, Leader of the Take It Back Movement and dedicated advocate for social justice, Human rights, and free speech detained by the Nigerian Police on trumped up charges under the machination of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu government.
This arrest represents an alarming overreach and a direct attack on the fundamental right of Citizens to free speech and peaceful assembly, as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution as Amended . Omoyole Sowore has been a tireless voice for Human Rights and His abduction by the Nigerian Police on the 6th day of August 2025 is a targeted effort to silence and intimidate true voices of democracy.
We therefore demand the immediate and unconditional release of Sowore.
The use of law enforcement agents to suppress activism undermines democratic principles and sets a dangerous precedent. We call on local, state, and federal authorities to uphold the rights of all individuals to engage in peaceful advocacy without fear of retribution.
The government and it’s agencies must respect the provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which protects the rights of all citizens without recourse to their political affiliation or ethnicity.
We call on the Bola Tinubu led federal government to maintain the fragile peace in the country as we will not tolerate a repetition of what the Abacha led military regime did to Ken Saro Wiwa and the Ogoni 9. Omoyole Sowore is a Niger Delta Son and we will not tolerate the corrupt Nigerian government take him away from us.
Enough is Enough.
