The Take It Back Movement, Lagos State Chapter, has secured bail for two workers who were remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over separate workplace-related allegations.
The Lagos State Coordinator of the movement, Comrade Adekunle Adeyemi Taofeek, disclosed this on Friday after appearing before the Magistrate Court in Ejigbo alongside the movement’s legal representative, Barrister Bolaji, and another member, Comrade Bobo.
According to Taofeek, the team intervened in the case of a young woman who was remanded after her employer, Cravings and More eatery, accused her of violating company policy by accepting a token from a customer. He said the movement also took over the case of her co-defendant, a young man who had been left without legal support because his family does not live in Lagos. The young man is facing allegations of stealing two chicken laps from his workplace.
Taofeek said the movement believes justice should not depend on a person’s financial situation or whether they have relatives nearby to provide legal assistance, “Justice should never become a privilege reserved for those who can afford legal representation or have family nearby. Everyone deserves a fair hearing and access to justice,” he said.
He confirmed that both defendants have now been granted bail by the court. According to him, the movement’s immediate priority is to ensure that both defendants meet their bail conditions when the matter comes up again on Tuesday, July 28.
Taofeek added that after the Ejigbo court proceedings, the team proceeded to the Magistrate Court in Ogba for the continuation of proceedings in the DJ Chicken bail bond case.
He reaffirmed the movement’s commitment to defending the rights of ordinary Nigerians and ensuring access to justice, “The struggle for justice continues,” he said.
