We will barricade Police Command Nationwide If Sowore is remanded

The Take It Back Movement condemns in the strongest possible terms the continued harassment, intimidation, and unlawful detention of human rights activist and the Convener of the RevolutionNow Movement, Omoyele Sowore, by the Nigeria Police Force under the instructions of the illegal Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Following a politically motivated and baseless petition, Sowore honored a suspicious invitation by the IGP’s Monitoring Unit and arrived at the Force Headquarters fully prepared.
In clear violation of due process, the police denied him access to the petition and identity of the petitioner, both of which are fundamental rights under the law. Instead, they threatened him with handcuffs, harnessed his lawyers, and began mobilizing vehicles with the aim of coercing and humiliating him. We later discovered that the petitioner is the illegal police IG himself, Egbetokun. This is no doubt blatant abuse of power, reckless waste of task payers’ money.
Accordingly, the Nigerian people, students, workers, the public, and the entire membership is hereby put on notice for an imminent nationwide protest should the police remand Sowore, unlawfully.
Signed,
Sanyaolu Juwon
