The Edo State Chapter of the Take It Back Movement has announced the release of a TikToker identified as Stanzy, whose real name is Usman Abdul Mumin, after spending 14 days in police detention.
One of the leaders of the movement in Edo State, Prince Collins, disclosed this in a Facebook post while narrating how the movement intervened in the case. According to Collins, he received a signal from the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, on the afternoon of Saturday, August 29, 2026, concerning the case involving Stanzy, his friend Fa’ad and the Chief Executive Officer of Denisco Hotel in Auchi, Edo State.
Collins made it known that Stanzy and Fa’ad were detained after making posts about what they described as bullying and unfair treatment they reportedly experienced at the hotel. He said he contacted Stanzy’s family and subsequently reached the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where he confirmed that the TikToker was in police detention.
Collins further claimed that he contacted the complainant and his lawyers, who allegedly demanded N7.8 million as compensation. He said he spent considerable time speaking with the parties involved in an attempt to resolve the matter but was unable to reach an agreement.
“Calls went over an hour respectively,” Collins wrote, explaining his efforts to persuade the complainant and his lawyers to reconsider their position. According to him, he continued engaging the State CID on Monday and eventually secured the release of Stanzy’s friend, Fa’ad.
Collins said he, however, continued to push for Stanzy to be taken before a court, where he could seek his freedom through the legal process. He said Stanzy was eventually charged before a court and that the judge granted him bail the following day.
“YES, the judge granted him bail. Freedom at last,” Collins wrote.
The TIB leader also made allegations concerning the circumstances surrounding the case, stating that a person he identified as “President Zo4” had previously declined to intervene on Stanzy’s behalf because the TikToker had criticised controversial social media personality VDM.
Collins further alleged that “President Zo4” and the hotel CEO agreed that the TikToker should remain in detention as a punishment for his previous criticism.
The Edo TIB leader said he would release a series of videos, from Part One to Part Five, in which he promised to provide further details about the matter.
Collins also thanked the AAC Edo North Senatorial candidate, Dr Onokhua Hafiz Lawal, officers of the State CID and a human rights lawyer for what he described as their support throughout the intervention. He equally acknowledged Sahara Reporters for lending its voice to the case.
