Usman Hasan Usman, the Take It Back Movement coordinator in Kano, has been released after being abducted by Kano state police following his participation in the June 12 #WeAreHungry protest.
Reports indicate that Usman was taken into custody by authorities at Sabon Gari, where he was pushed into a car on his way to pick placards for the peaceful demonstration.
Following Usman’s release from custody, one of the Take It Back movement leaders, Femi Adeyeye, reached out to him via phone. During the conversation, Usman reportedly expressed uncertainty about the location of the police station where he was taken.
According to sources, Usman lost his mobile phone during the course of his arrest and release.

In a statement earlier signed by Comrade Speaker Bright, Coordinator, Northwest Take It Back movement, he had demanded the release of Usman, noting that his arrest would not stop the demand for good governance.
Meanwhile, the Take It Back Movement National Coordinator, Juwon Sanyaolu is still being detained following his arrest on Tuesday night.
In the late hours of June 11, the National Coordinator, was abducted in a gestapo manner by the Department of State Services (DSS).
