Residents of Marabar Kankara, Katsina, angered by the continued insecurity in their region, have taken to the streets in protest, launching the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria demonstration in the North.
The protest led by frustrated residents of Marabar Kankara, Katsina, fueled by the community’s long-standing security concerns, ignited the demonstration. News of the demonstration, shared by human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, through video that has since gone viral, has captured the nation’s attention and inspired others to join the protest against bad governance.
In his post, Sowore praised the residents for their bravery in taking a stand against insecurity and kicking off the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria demonstration in their region. He expressed solidarity with the residents and called for others to join the cause.
“The people of Marabar Kankara in Malamfushi local govt area in Katsina state can’t wait any longer, they’ve had enough of Insecurity in the northern states and have courageously began blocking the highway to start #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest action in their region. We salute their courage. #RevolutionNow #DaysOfRage #TakeItBack #WeCantContinueLikeThis”, Sowore wrote.

There has been widespread dissatisfaction with the economic crisis, hunger, insecurity, and poor governance in Nigeria which has reached a boiling point. As the country grapples with these critical issues, citizens across the nation are organizing to stage a nationwide protest in early August.
Tagged #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, the demonstrations aim to put an end to the neoliberal policies and socioeconomic challenges that have plagued Nigeria for years. Fueled by a deep sense of frustration, Nigerians hope that these protests will be a catalyst for real change in the nation.
