‘Protest No Dey Work’ – A Mantra to Discourage and Demobilize the Nigerian Populace! – Written by Olawale Bakare Mandate

“Protest no dey work protest no dey work…”

First, they purportedly plan to address hunger, and starvation of millions downtrodden masses with few bags of rice. How much more clueless and confused can they get? But ‘protest no dey work’?

Second, they increased minimum wage to #70,000 passed and sign it into law with speed of light. But ‘protest no dey work’.

Third, the lawmakers suddenly realised that they get too much monthly income – one of the most paid lawmakers in the world for a dying economy of a third world like Nigeria; proposed to slash their salaries by half. How far? “Shey protest still no dey work”?

Fourth, they plan to send out Orò thinking that will intimidate protesters – most ridiculous of them all. Now can you sense the fear?

Fifth, the lawmakers are already going on their annual recess for SEVEN WEEKS!!! – earliest and the longest of its kind. They’re already planning to jet out in case the Nigeria people will “ta tan”!!!

Now, do you spot the pattern or should I still draw it out for you?? Like I have said in my various interviews in time past, the game of the Nigerian ruling class can be summarised into THREE main categories; BRIBERY, DIVIDE & RULE, and VIOLENCE. They’ll try bribe the populace with ridiculous social interventions, then proceed to try to bribe and buy the leaders of the protest. When they can’t do that, they’ll proceed to dividing the masses or sponsoring and creating fake leadership for the protest – people they know they can control and buy. It may even be part of the protesters. Anyone that lack enough ideological discipline to resist their “handouts”, watch out for them. They use their likes to divide the strength of the united oppress which is their very fear!

The only way to defeat them at their own game is to UNITE & RESIST. When all of these fail they start to FLEE one by one. I promise you.

I have not only seen but directly experienced this pattern too many a time. They’re cowards, they know what they have done and what they are doing to you and your future, and they are scared of the day you’ll realise this.

Wake up Nigerians! Their little game will be over the day you decide to put a stop to it. And they know this! They are evidently scared of these days. Don’t snooze your liberation any longer. The time is now. Let us rid our dear nation of corrupt leadership and their evil institutions cannot deliver justice to common man. Let us put an end to bad governance and nepotistic socioeconomic arrangement countermining the political and economic destiny of the most promising nation on the African continent and rewrite the history of our nation once and for all.

Together we are unstoppable!!!

If there’s a way to stop any of the people in power from flying out of the country while the protest is ongoing please do, they need to experience the suffering they’re forcing the people to endure, this is too much to bear.
