Activist and Gubernatorial Candidate Ajayi Condemns Ondo Governor’s Spending Amid Unpaid WAEC Fees, Demands Release of Illegally Detained #EndBadGovernance Protester

Human rights activist and gubernatorial candidate of the African Action Congress in Ondo state, Kunle Wizeman Ajayi has publicly criticized Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for allocating significant funds to secure political alliances, while simultaneously neglecting critical educational needs, such as the outstanding WAEC fees for public school students.

Ajayi, a prominent advocate for good governance, also demand the immediate release of a fellow #EndBadGovernance protester who has been illegally detained by the Ondo State government.

In his Facebook post, Ajayi wrote: “Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is spending billions to buy Former governor Olusegun Mimiko and other player politicians. Meanwhile, results are showing that Ondo State is yet to pay WAEC fees for public schools students for two years. Greed and power is the priority of the anti-people elements. The why they drank sorrow bitters when we protested to #EndBadGovernance.”

In addition, Ajayi drew attention to the ongoing illegal detention of Patrick Owolabi, the Take It Back movement’s state coordinator, by the Ondo State Government

“Our state coordinator is still being illegally detained by the Ondo State government. #FreeOwolabiNow !”, he added.

Owolabi was arrested alongside Ajayi during the #EndBadGovernance protest on Saturday, and while Ajayi and five others were released, Owolabi remains in custody.

Ajayi’s condemnation of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s spending priorities underscores the ongoing struggle for fair governance in Ondo State and emphasizes the urgent need to address the long-standing WAEC fee issue. Furthermore, the detention of a peaceful protester highlights the increasingly oppressive measures employed by the government to stifle dissent and hinder democratic expression.
