The Nigerian government has postponed the arraignment of #EndBadGovernance protest leaders, including Michael Lenin, to Friday, August 23.
The arraignment of the protesters was reportedly shifted amid a large contingent of security personnel deployed to the Federal High Court complex in Abuja on Monday.
Confirming the court postponement of the arraignment of the protesters, human rights activist and Convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, wrote on X, “Upon finding no charges to prefer against these #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria activists detained at the #IRT @PoliceNG dungeon in Abuja, Nigerian government prosecutors have shifted their arraignment to Friday, August 23 2024.
“Our ultimatum to release all #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria PROTESTERS WILL BE ISSUED SOON.”
Last Saturday, Take-It-Back Movement confirmed the planned arraignment which was suppose to take place on Monday morning at the federal high court, Abuja, adding that Nigerians should be in court to offer solidarity.
Also, in a statement released on Sunday via the Take It Back Movement X account, the movement announced that its members would occupy the court premises starting at 7am to show support for the protesters.
The trio, Adaramoye Michael Lenin, Mosiu Sodiq and Eleojo Opaluwa has been in illegal detention for two weeks now, under the directive of Nuhu Ribadu, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and present National Security Adviser to President Tinubu.
Lenin and Sodiq were arrested during a raid on popular activist Babatunde Oluajo, known widely as OSB Sankara’s residence around 2am on August 5, by the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
