Sowore Questions President Tinubu’s Choice of UK Vacation Amidst Nigeria’s Issues

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s decision to take his annual vacation in the United Kingdom rather than in Nigeria.

Sowore questions whether there isn’t an appropriate location within Nigeria for Tinubu to take his leave, considering that he is currently leading the country

He further questioned how often the President goes on annual leave in a year, describing it as funny that a person who barely works goes on annual leave.

Taking to his X account on Wednesday, Sowore wrote, “Tinubu is set to depart Nigeria today on ‘annual leave.’

“Me: Is there nowhere inside Nigeria to spend an annual leave? How often should a person go on “annual leave” in a year?

“Is it NOT funny that a person who barely works goes on ‘annual leave?’”

Reports had earlier revealed that President Bola Tinubu will proceed on a two-week vacation today, Wednesday.

A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the “working vacation” is part of his yearly leave.

It also said the president will travel to the United Kingdom and return to Nigeria after the leave expires.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today for the United Kingdom to begin a two-week vacation, part of his yearly leave.

“He will use the two weeks as a working vacation and a retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms.

“He will return to the country after the leave expires,” the statement said.
