Adaramoye ‘Lenin,’ the National Coordinator of the Youth Rights Campaign has expressed gratitude following his release from detention and vowed to relentlessly pursue a better Nigeria.
Lenin’s arrest, along with several other activists, was related to their involvement in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests in August, which aimed to tackle the systemic injustices in the country.
Taking to his Facebook page on Friday night, Lenin credited the relentless support of comrades, friends, and supporters for his release on bail after 59 days of incarceration, emphasizing the power of the people in challenging oppressive forces.
“My release (On bail) after 59 days of incarceration would have been impossible without the committed agitation of comrades, friends and supporters, once again we showed that the power of the people is superior to the people in power.”
Lenin extended his appreciation to various organizations and individuals, including the Democratic Socialist Movement, Committee for a Workers’ International, Omoyele Sowore, and the TIB movement, as well as numerous socialist groups, human rights organizations, NGOs, and legal professionals who contributed to his release and supported the #EndBadGovernance protests.
“I appreciate my comrades in the Democratic Socialist Movement (DSM) and Committee for a Workers’ International (CWI), together we shall continue to hold the spotless banner of socialism.
“I appreciate the efforts made by Comrade Omoyele Sowore and comrades of the TIB movement. Your roles in the #EndBadGovernance protest and the consequent campaign for the release of all detained protesters are commendable.
“I must equally extend my appreciation to all Socialist groups, including the Network of Abuja Left groups. The notable contributions of human right organizations, local and international are all appreciated. Thanks to Actionaid and other NGOs for standing against the falsehood of the Tinubu government.
“The legal support we got from Olumide Fusika, SAN, Femi Falana, SAN, Deji Adeyanju, NBA, Hope Behind Bar Africa, among others, are very instrumental to my freedom. The support from media friends and supporters who tirelessly created public awareness helped our struggle in great measures.”, he wrote.
In a strong will to see that the country get better, Lenin emphasized that the fight for a better Nigeria is far from over, urging continued mass struggle and unity among the oppressed to resist the current government’s anti-people policies.
“However, the struggle is far from over. To the Tinubu’s senseless dictatorship and attack on the masses, we must respond with mass struggle. Our experience has shown that we need united struggle of the oppressed to resist all anti-people policies of the government.”
He called for the #EndBadGovernance movement to grow and rally the masses against the pro-capitalist Tinubu regime.
“The #EndbadGovernance should be built into a movement to rally the masses to fight against anti-people policies of the pro-capitalist regime of the Tinubu government.”, he added.
