Comrades in Mozambique,
The Take It Back Movement strongly condemns the violent state response to peaceful protests following the October 2024 elections.
The reported killing of about 50
protesters is a grave violation of human rights and an affront to democracy. This
struggle reflects a broader wave of resistance sweeping Africa, with citizens in Kenya opposing austerity, Ghanaians fighting corruption, and Nigerians championing movements like End Bad Governance to struggle for transparency in government and justice.
We stand in solidarity with the Mozambican people, particularly the opposition party Podemos and its leader, Venâncio Mondlane, in their courageous fight for justice and electoral integrity.
We commend your resolve to demand accountability and uphold citizens’ rights to express their discontent without fear of violence freely.
We call for united African solidarity to end tyranny and oppression, maintaining that
only a revolutionary struggle can build a continent where governments respect
people’s will, uphold human rights, and prioritise citizens’ welfare.
Stay resolute, Mozambique. The world is watching, and your courage inspires
millions. Together, we will achieve the freedom and justice all Africans deserve.
In Solidarity,
Sanyaolu Juwon
National Coordinator,
Take It Back Movement.
