Take It Back Movement Demands Justice, Calls for Swift Action in Response to Revelation Made by Sanwo-Olu’s Media Aide

We, the Take It Back Movement unequivocally demand the immediate  arrest and arraignment of Wale Ajetunmobi, the recently suspended Senior Special Assistant on Print Media to Governor Sanwo-Olu, within 24 hours.

This call for action is in response to Ajetunmobi’s now-deleted post from November 23, in which he claimed that individuals who set fire to the building housing Television Continental (TVC) during the 2020 #EndSARS protests were “hunted down and executed.”

We believe that the now-deleted November 23 post on X, in which the media aide made it known that individuals who set fire to the Television Continental (TVC) property during the 2020 #EndSARS protests were “hunted down and executed,” represents a serious and deeply concerning claim, particularly given the aide’s insider knowledge and involvement in the events that unfolded on October 20, 2020.

We recognize the seriousness of this matter and insist on prompt measures to hold Wale Ajetunmobi responsible for his statements, which carry substantial weight in the context of the ongoing probe into the #EndSARS protests and the conduct of those in positions of authority during that period.

We hereby provide notice that should the relevant public officials refuse, fail, or neglect to take appropriate action, we will have no alternative but to organize and call for a nationwide protest as a means of expressing our collective dissatisfaction and concern over the lack of accountability and responsiveness from those in positions of power.

The movement is also aware of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s decision to suspend Wale Ajetunmobi following his comment, which the governor described as a “misrepresentation of facts on his personal ‘X’ account on a past incident.” The governor further emphasized that his administration rejects any form of extra-judicial punishment and will not be complicit in such actions.

However, we consider this measure inadequate, as the Lagos State Government’s culpability has been established by the #EndSARS Panel, and the burden of proof still lies with them. We assert that the government must take more substantial steps to address the concerns raised by the panel’s findings and ensure accountability for any wrongdoing.

Our position reflects the gravity of the situation and the ongoing efforts to seek justice for the victims of the #EndSARS protests. We remain committed to advocating for transparency and holding those in power responsible for their actions, in line with the findings and recommendations of the #EndSARS Panel.
