Sowore Calls for Global Revolt Against Nigerian Judiciary over Dele Farotimi’s Unjust Detention

Human rights activist and the convener of the RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore has called for a global revolt against the Nigerian judiciary in response to the unjust detention of Dele Farotimi.

Sowore’s call to action comes as Farotimi’s case gains increased public outrage. Farotimi was arrested following a raid on his residence in Lagos State.

The arrest was based on a petition by legal luminary, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), over the allegations of cybercrime.

In his statement on his social media handles, Sowore criticized the Nigerian judiciary for enabling the unlawful detention of Farotimi and called for widespread protest to pressure the Nigerian government to take action.

He wrote, “FreeDeleFarotimi Everywhere is too comfortable for the oppressors in Nigeria. Could we start a NATIONWIDE/GLOBAL revolt against the Nigerian judiciary over Dele Farotimi’s unjust abduction and detention ASAP, Please? Who is on board?”

In another post, Sowore then announced the nationwide and global protest against the Nigerian judiciary, scheduled for December 10th, 2024.

Tagged “NATIONWIDE/GLOBAL PROTEST AGAINST THE NIGERIAN JUDICIARY”, The protest aims to advocate for the release of Dele Farotimi and emphasize the importance of press freedom and the repeal of the Cyber Crime Act.
