Human rights organization Fight Inequality Alliance has expressed strong disapproval of what it refers to as the “#RedLineToBillionaires” in Lagos State.
The group alleges that wealthy elites are amassing resources while millions of Nigerians are subjected to poverty.
On Saturday, the alliance organized a protest at Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos, calling for a more equitable system prioritizing public welfare over private wealth.
In a statement released on Saturday, the group demanded reforms to ensure the wealthy contribute their fair share to societal development.
They explained the profligacy of wealth hoarders amid the widespread misery perpetuated by the systems the elite defend.
The Fight Inequality Alliance urged the government to take immediate steps to implement adequate investment in public services.
The group called for investments in public services, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
They also demanded reforms to establish a fair tax system to ensure the wealthy contribute their fair share to societal development.
The statement read, “We drew a #RedLineToBillionaires greed, which condemns the bulk of us to poverty in the midst of plenty.
“We said enough is enough to the profligacy of the wealth hoarders amid wanton misery created by the systems they defend.
“We affirm that our society and planetary’s wealth is ours all to share and protect collectively.
“We demand adequate investment in public services and a fair tax system now.
“We demand an end to neoliberalism,” they added.
