The Take It Back Movement has demand that the Kaduna High Court end the persecution of Engr Khalid Aminu and other victims by dropping all charges against them on February 25, 2025.
This call aligns with the movement’s #RepealTheCyberCrimeAct campaign, which aims to combat state repression in Nigeria.
The statement released on the movement’s X account expressed the urgent need to halt the misuse of cybercrime laws to target activists, journalists, and citizens unjustly.
“Kaduna High Court must end state-driven persecution on 25/02/2025 by dropping charges against Engr Khalid Aminu and all victims.
“This is the goal of our #RepealTheCyberCrimeAct campaign. State repression must end!”, the statement reads.
Commenting on the ongoing case of Engineer Khalid, Shedrack Danladi, the Kaduna Branch Coordinator of the Take It Back Movement, stressed the urgent need for justice and the end of state repression. Danladi stated, “This critical issue necessitates the collective attention and action of individuals, communities, and policymakers alike.” He further warned that disregarding the need for justice would not only fail those affected but also erode the foundational principles of equality, freedom, and dignity.
Emphasizing the importance of addressing state repression, Danladi added, “Eliminating state repression requires determination, persistence, and an unwavering commitment to fairness, accountability, and human rights. I urge everyone to join this cause.” He called upon the Kaduna Court to drop all charges against Engineer Khalid and others facing similar unjust persecution, asserting, “The court must drop all charges against Engineer Khalid and many others who are facing the same charges.”
Mr Khalid Aminu, was abducted by the DSS and detained by the President Bola Tinubu regime for 11 weeks for participating in the #EndBadGovernance protest held between August 1 to 10, 2024.
On October 4, SaharaReporters reported that Engineer Khalid Aminu had filed a motion for bail at the Federal High Court in Kaduna Judicial Division.
When the matter came up on Thursday October 17, 2024, he was discharged of all the trump-up charges.
At the resumed hearing, the DSS prosecutor then applied to withdraw the charges against them.
However, Engineer Khalid will be appearing again tomorrow, Monday 23rd of February at the Federal High Court in Kaduna.
