The Take It Back Movement (TIB) is actively working to ensure justice for Quadri Olasunkanmi Ogunbode, a LASU graduate whose murder has raised serious concerns among the community.
In a statement released by TIB’s Lagos branch coordinator, Adekunle Adeyemi Taofeek, following the movement’s intervention, he highlighted efforts in engaging various stakeholders to seek accountability and justice.
Taofeek addressed recent developments in the case, including the role of the Nigerian Police Force and the response of the LASU Students Union, “I spoke with the Lagos State Police PRO, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin who refuted the rumour that suspects has been released while he said the father of the slain LASU graduate was at the state CID Panti a day before I reached out and he (father) confirmed suspects are still in custody at the state CID.
“I reached out to the Lagos State University students union president to ask for the position of the union and the entire LASU students/management regarding the ongoing case and what effort and steps the union has taken. I got no response after several messages then I decided to drag the president on a Whatsapp loop we both belong which instigated other LASU students to drag him to take action while they follows. He eventually responded in my DM after a heated dragging.”
Taofeeq recounted the student union leader’s explanation of their proactive measures, which include ongoing engagement with authorities, ensuring accurate information dissemination, seeking legal counsel, and organizing protests at police headquarters. These efforts have contributed to increased police action,
He commended the ongoing police investigation and the union’s decision to stage a protest at the police command in Ikeja, “I am happy with the progress of the Nigeria Police Force investigation and I must also commend the effort of the LASU students union and the entire LASU students for standing tall and chose not to sit on the fence. Posterity will judge us all judiciously and accordingly.”
As the investigation into Quadri Olasunkanmi Ogunbode’s murder continues, the Take It Back Movement remains committed to advocating for the rights of victims and standing for justice.
By championing the cause of justice for the slain LASU graduate, the movement not only seeks to uphold the dignity and value of every individual but also serves as a beacon of hope for a more equitable and just Nigerian society.
