The Ondo State Chapter of the Take It Back Movement has released a statement strongly condemning the worsening insecurity in Ondo State, which has led to loss of lives, property, and livelihoods.
Holding Governor Ayedatiwa’s administration accountable, the movement, in a statement signed by Patrick Owolabi Otu, Ondo state Coordinator, claims that the government’s inaction is responsible for the dire situation, “The Ondo State TakeItBack Movement strongly condemns the rising of insecurity in Ondo State, which has resulted in the loss of lives, property, and livelihoods. We hold the Ondo State government, led by Governor Ayedatiwa responsible for this unacceptable state of affairs.”
Citing recent incidents, including the deadly attack on four communities in Akure North Local Government and the abduction of a family in Owo Local Government, the Take It Back Movement asserts that insecurity is on the rise and that the state government has failed to provide adequate security and maintain law and order, “If you recall on March 10th, 2025, Nigerian Police Force, Ondo State Command confirmed a deadly attack on four communities in Akure North Local Government, (Aba Alajido, Aba Sunday, Aba Pastor, and Ademeku) unleashing terror by suspected bandits which atleast 14 bodies recovered after been denied by the state government.
“Report on News outlet indicated that on Friday, 7th of March, 2025, at Owo Local Government, a family of four were abducted in their home along Old Owo – Ipele Road.
“This recent rising kidnapping is a clear indication of the state government’s failure to provide security and maintain law and order in the state.”
Patrick called on Governor Ayedatiwa to take immediate steps to address security challenges, such as deploying more security personnel, engaging affected communities, and holding perpetrators accountable, “The people of Ondo State deserve better, and it is the responsibility of the government to ensure their safety and security. We challenge Governor Gov Ayedatiwa to take immediate and decisive action to address the security challenges facing Ondo State, deploying more security personnel to affected areas to deter crime and protect citizens, engage with the affected communities to identify and address the root causes of insecurity, and ensure that those responsible for security breaches are brought to justice.”
Urging solidarity and collective action, the Movement implores citizens to join in condemning insecurity and demanding government action for a safer and more just society in Ondo State, “The Ondo TakeItBack Movement demands that the Ondo State government prioritizes the safety and security of Ondo State citizens. We call on all Nigerians to join us in condemning the rise of insecurity in Ondo State and demanding action from the government. Together, we can build a safer and more just society for all.”
