The Take-It-Back (TIB) Movement has strongly condemned the reported killing of Mr. Godswill Akpakpan, a 300-level student of the University of Port Harcourt, said to have been shot by police officers.

In a statement released on Thursday, Take It Back Movement described the incident as a “grave violation of human rights and an unacceptable abuse of power.”
The statement, jointly signed by TIB’s Coordinator, Rivers State Chapter, King Amaniye; Secretary, Damiete Erekosima; and Publicity Secretary, Andy Akpotive, demanded an immediate, transparent, and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Akpakpan’s death.
They emphasized the need for full accountability, calling for the identification and prosecution of the officers involved. “Anything short of justice will only further erode public trust in law enforcement,” the movement warned.
Expressing solidarity with Akpakpan’s grieving family, friends, and colleagues, the movement urged civil society groups, student unions, human rights organisations, and the general public to rally behind the call for justice and meaningful police reform.
“The Take-It-Back Movement will not be silenced. We stand firm in our demand for an end to state-sanctioned violence,” the statement concluded.
