Take It Back Movement, Kano State Chapter Confirms Release of Zakariyya Kabeer Gwagwarwa on Bail

The Take It Back Movement (TIB), Kano State Chapter, has confirmed the release of Zakariyya Kabeer Gwagwarwa on bail after what it described as an unlawful arrest in Katsina and subsequent detention at Goron Dutse Prison, Kano.

In a statement signed by its Kano State Coordinator, Comrade Zubair A. Zubair, the Kano State chapter of the movement hailed the development as “a testament to the power of solidarity and collective resistance against oppression.”

According to the statement, several individuals and organizations played a crucial role in ensuring Gwagwarwa’s freedom. The statement read:

“We extend profound gratitude to Comrade Sarki Jona, whose relentless commitment was instrumental in this victory. We also commend the remarkable efforts of IB Kurna, Adamu Habibu, Mujahid Wudil, AndyColle, and the KUST Wudil Alumni Association, Zakariyya’s alma mater, for standing by him with courage and unity.”

The movement stressed that the unwavering solidarity of KUST Wudil Alumni demonstrated how collective action can defeat tyranny, “Their determination, regardless of party or belief, shows the strength of alumni when united against injustice. If all university alumni demonstrated such resolve, tyranny and victimization would have no place in our nation,” the statement added.

Zubair also acknowledged the efforts of the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), various media organizations, and well-meaning Nigerians who raised their voices to demand justice.

“Our appreciation equally goes to CITAD, media organizations, and well-meaning Nigerians whose advocacy and outcry amplified the call for justice. Their voices proved once again that no injustice can withstand the force of a people united in truth.,”

Quoting Martin Luther King Jr., Zubair emphasized the broader significance of the case, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

The Kano State Chapter of TIB concluded by describing the release as “more than a personal victory for Zakariyya” but rather “a collective triumph for all Nigerians who believe in freedom, fairness, and human dignity.”
