Statement by the Take It Back Movement Student Wing on the Crisis in NANS and the Torture of Atiku Isah

PRESS STATEMENT

The attention of the Take It Back Movement Student Wing has been drawn to a disturbing video circulating online showing the abduction, assault, and dehumanization of Comrade Atiku Isah, a factional President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS). According to reports, Comrade Atiku was attacked by a rival faction and has alleged that Mr. Seyi Tinubu, son of the President, masterminded the attack.

We unequivocally condemn the abduction and torture of Comrade Atiku Isah. Such acts are not only barbaric but also a gross violation of his fundamental human rights. All individuals involved in this heinous act must be identified and held accountable under the law.

It is important to state that the ongoing internal strife within NANS is disconnected from the genuine struggle for the welfare and interests of Nigerian students. At a time when students are dropping out in large numbers due to the escalating cost of education, the leadership crisis within NANS only serves as a distraction from the pressing issues at hand.

We, therefore, call on all Nigerian students to rise above these divisive politics and unite in a coordinated campaign against the continuous hike in school fees across the country. The fight for accessible and affordable education must remain our central focus.

Signed,
Comrade Oguntola Sunday A.
Coordinator, Student Wing
Take It Back Movement
