STATEMENT OF THE TAKE IT BACK MOVEMENT, NORTH EAST ZONE, OVER UNLAWFUL EXPULSION OF COMRADE NUHU NAZIF BY THE AUTHORITIES OF FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, BAUCHI

The Take It Back (TIB) Movement, hereby issue this Statement of Facts and Notice of potential legal, and protest action concerning the unlawful expulsion of Comrade Nuhu Nazif Muhammad, a student of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi and the Bauchi State Coordinator of the Take It Back Movement.

Background

Comrade Nuhu Nazif Muhammad
(Reg. No. 23/153162) completed his Higher National Diploma (HND) programme at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.
Subsequent to completion, his academic results were withheld without a properly constituted academic or disciplinary process.

Statement of Facts

Available records and communications indicate that:

No fair, transparent, and properly constituted Students’ Disciplinary Committee (SDC) hearing was conducted in compliance with the Polytechnic’s Student Handbook and the NBTE Code of Conduct

Lawful objections raised by the student concerning procedural irregularities in the purported SDC process were neither addressed nor remedied through established institutional mechanisms.

The student was denied the right to fair hearing, as guaranteed under institutional regulations and Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, as amended).

A written letter of expulsion dated 28 January 2026 was subsequently issued to the student, reportedly on the basis of his objection to flawed disciplinary procedures.

The expulsion was effected without exhaustion of internal remedies and in clear violation of laid-down disciplinary processes governing the institution.

Consequences of These Actions

As a direct result of the above actions:

The student lost the opportunity to submit his final HND results for an international postgraduate scholarship.

His academic standing and personal reputation were unjustly harmed.

He was subjected to avoidable emotional and psychological distress.

Position of the Take It Back Movement

The Take It Back Movement considers these actions to constitute:

An abuse of administrative power;

A violation of the constitutional right to fair hearing; and

A dangerous precedent that threatens student rights, academic freedom, and due process within tertiary institutions.

Accordingly, the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi and all relevant authorities are hereby placed on notice that steps are being initiated to challenge:

The unlawful withholding of academic results;

The invalid expulsion of the student; and

Any acts of intimidation, victimisation, or administrative malpractice connected with this matter.

All lawful remedies, judicial, regulatory, and institutional, are are being actively considered.

This Statement is issued without prejudice to further legal, institutional, or other lawful civic actions, which shall be determined based on the response or non-response of the relevant authorities.
