TIB Demands Immediate Release of 176 Abducted Kaima Residents, Threatens Mass Protest if Kwara Government Fails to Act

PRESS RELEASE

22 February 2026

Call for Immediate Action on the Abduction of 176 Kaima Residents

The Take It Back (TiB) Movement, Kwara State Chapter, hereby calls on the Kwara State Government to take urgent and decisive steps to secure the safe and immediate release of 176 residents of Kaima who have been held captive by kidnappers.

Today marks 19 days since our people were abducted. For 19 painful days, families have lived in fear, uncertainty, and emotional distress while awaiting concrete action from the authorities.

The continued captivity of these 176 individuals is unacceptable, and the silence and inaction surrounding their ordeal raise serious concerns.

It is deeply troubling that while this grave security crisis persists, state officials appear preoccupied with political activities, giving the impression that the urgency of this matter is not being treated with the seriousness it deserves. The protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of any government, and this obligation must not be neglected.

We therefore demand that the Kwara State Government intensify all necessary security and negotiation efforts to ensure the safe return of our 176 Kaima people before the end of next week. The government must demonstrate transparency, accountability, and commitment in addressing this crisis.

Failure to take visible and effective action within this timeframe will leave us with no option but to mobilize and march peacefully to the Government House to demand the immediate release of our family members.

The lives of our people are not negotiable. We stand united with the affected families and reaffirm our commitment to pursuing justice and accountability through lawful and peaceful means.

Signed:
Comrade Musa Saidu Tsaragi
TiB Coordinator, Kwara State
