Delta State Take It Back Movement Condemns Victimisation of Staff at College of Health Science and Technology, Ofuoma

The Delta State chapter of the Take It Back Movement raises serious concern over the alleged victimisation of Mr. Urhude Abel, a staff member of the College of Health Science and Technology, Ofuoma, Ughelli, Delta State.

Mr. Abel has reported a series of false allegations and severe disciplinary measures taken against him while a related matter remains before a competent court of law. The initial dispute, which involved an allegation of defamation of character between staff members, was taken to court and a date was fixed for report-of-settlement or trial after the institution’s lawyer requested time to settle the matter. Shockingly, while that case is still pending, fresh allegations allegedly surfaced without proper investigation, fair hearing, or formal invitation to Mr. Abel before recommendations were made against him.

We are disturbed by claims that these actions may be connected to internal leadership disagreements within the institution, particularly during the tussle over who becomes Provost. No worker should be subjected to intimidation, threat-of-termination, forced-exile, or politically-motivated administrative persecution because of perceived alignment or personal principles.

The Delta State Take It Back Movement insists on the following:
1. Immediate, independent, and transparent investigation into all allegations
2. Strict adherence to due-process and the rule-of-law
3. Protection of Mr. Abel’s rights as a civil servant
4. An end to every form of victimisation, intimidation, and administrative witch-hunt

Allegations, including those relating to sexual-harassment, must be treated with seriousness, fairness, and proper investigation. They must not be weaponised as tools of intimidation, retaliation, or score-settling.

We call on the Honourable Commissioner for Health in Delta State and all relevant authorities to urgently intervene and ensure justice, fairness, and institutional accountability.

An injury to one is an injury to all.

Signed:

Comrade Ochuko Famili
Coordinator
Delta State Take It Back Movement
