The Take-It-Back Movement has announced plans to stage a protest over the growing wave of insecurity in Oyo State, declaring that residents can no longer continue to live under the threat of kidnapping and bandit attacks across the state.
According to a protest flier that is now in circulation, the demonstration is scheduled to hold on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Mokola Roundabout in Ibadan, with participants expected to converge by 8:00am.
The protest, themed “Security Is A Right, Not A Privilege,” is also demanding the immediate release of victims abducted in Ogbomoso and other parts of the state.
In the statement contained in the flier, the movement accused Governor Seyi Makinde and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of placing politics above the safety and welfare of citizens.
The movement warned that residents of the state are increasingly being forced to live in fear due to the rising activities of kidnappers and armed groups.
“We are prepared to mobilise citizens across the state until decisive action is taken to protect lives and property. The government must prioritise the security of the people and address the worsening situation without delay,” the movement stated.
The movement further lamented that insecurity has continued to spread across several communities, leaving many residents anxious and vulnerable, “People can no longer sleep peacefully as cases of kidnapping and banditry continue to rise. While citizens grapple with fear and uncertainty, those in power appear more concerned with politics than with safeguarding lives,” it added.
The movement maintained that security is a fundamental right of every citizen and not a privilege reserved for a few, stressing that continued silence in the face of insecurity would only embolden criminal elements, “Silence is complicity. Collective action remains the people’s strongest tool in the fight against insecurity,” the movement declared.
