The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has adjourned the ruling on the bail application filed for Afunsho, popularly known as Rolex Dee, until Friday, August 21, 2026.
Barrister Damilare Adenola, counsel to Rolex Dee, disclosed this in an update following Monday’s bail hearing. According to Adenola, the defence asked the court to release Rolex Dee on bail on liberal terms, stressing the need for him to be with his family and mourn during what he described as a difficult period.
The lawyer also told the court about the poor treatment of his client at the police station, stating that Rolex Dee had been denied food and medical care.
“Today I was in court to ask for bail for Afunsho, also known as Rolex Dee. The judge did not give a ruling yet, we now have to wait until Friday, August 21st,” Adenola said.
He added that he informed the judge about the conditions under which Rolex Dee was being held and urged the court to consider his circumstances in deciding the bail application.
Adenola also expressed appreciation to members of the Take It Back Movement who attended the proceedings in solidarity with Rolex Dee. He thanked fellow lawyers Joseph Oshomha Aliu and Jamiu Gbeleola for standing with him in court, as well as human rights activist and African Action Congress presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, for speaking out in support of Rolex Dee.
The lawyer said the defence remains hopeful that the court will grant the bail application when it returns on Friday. He also called on supporters to attend the next court sitting and continue showing solidarity with Rolex Dee.
The case, FRN v. Afunsho (Rolex Dee), will therefore return before the court on Friday, August 21, when the ruling on the bail application is expected.
