IN DEFENSE OF DEMOCRACY, NIGERIANS MUST RISE WITH SOWORE

The Take It Back Movement calls on all comrades, patriots, and defenders of democracy across Nigeria to rise in solidarity at this critical moment in our nation’s history. The struggle for justice, civil liberties, and the rule of law has reached a decisive stage as our convener Omoyele Sowore, faces yet another attempt by the state to silence the voice of truth and resistance.

Tomorrow, Thursday, October 23, 2025, Sowore will appear before the Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja, in a case between the illegal Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and Omoyele Sowore.

This case is not merely a legal proceeding, it represents the ongoing battle for the soul of Nigeria, for the right of citizens to speak freely, and for the survival of our democracy in the face of growing authoritarianism.

The state’s consistent harassment, intimidation, and abuse of legal processes against Sowore and other voices of dissent are deliberate efforts to suppress activism and crush public demand for accountability. These actions stand in direct opposition to the principles of justice and democracy enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.

We call on all members of the Take It Back Movement, civil society organizations, human rights groups, students, and patriotic Nigerians to join in solidarity at the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, by 7:00 AM.

Our collective presence will send a clear message to those in power that intimidation will not silence the truth and that the Nigerian people will not surrender their freedoms.

The persecution of Omoyele Sowore is not just an attack on one man, it is an attack on every Nigerian who dares to demand justice, equality, and good governance. Indifference at this moment amounts to betrayal. Every citizen who believes in democracy must take a stand.

We demand an immediate end to the harassment and persecution of Omoyele Sowore and all activists across the country. We demand full respect for the rule of law, protection of free speech, and urgent reform of the security agencies being used as tools of political oppression.

History has shown that silence in the face of tyranny strengthens the oppressor. The time to act is now. Together, we will defend justice, safeguard democracy, and hold power accountable.
