Days After Bobrisky’s Jailing for Naira Abuse, EFCC Moves to Arraign Instagram Celebrity Cubana Chief Priest Over Alleged Misuse of Nigerian Currency

Social media star Cubana Chief Priest is facing legal trouble from Nigeria’s anti-corruption watchdog, the EFCC, for the alleged mistreatment of the country’s currency at a public event.

As court documents reveal, Cubana Chief Priest is set to appear before Justice Kehinde Ogundare at the Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday, where he will face charges brought by the EFCC prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN) and his team of seven other lawyers. The Commission’s charges against Okechukwu focus on his alleged mishandling of Nigerian currency during a public event on April 4th.

It reads, “1- that you, Okechukwu Pascal on 13th Feb. 2024, at Eko Hotel, within the jurisdiction of the court, while dancing during a social event, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same for two hours, and you thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007”.

2 – “that you Okechukwu Pascal sometime in 2020, in Lagos during a social event, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same for two hours, and you thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007”.

3 – “that you Okechukwu Pascal sometime in January 2024, in Lagos during a social event, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same and you thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007”.

This comes few days after popular cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky, bagged a six-month jail term over naira abuse.
