Human rights activist and RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, has derided the President Tinubu’s proposed economic plan as a smokescreen, claiming that it will do little to address the profound deterioration of Nigeria’s economy.
Reacting to the recent report by Daily Trust and expressing his outrage, Omoyele Sowore took to his X handle to lambast the Tinubu government’s proposed N2TRN economic stabilization plan as a deceptive ‘wuruwuru’ ploy aimed at covering up the catastrophic state of Nigeria’s economy. Sowore drew parallels with the political unrest in Kenya, where President Ruto’s controversial policies had triggered widespread protests and public demonstrations.
“The fear of Kenya-type insurrection in Nigeria is forcing @officialABAT to set up wuruwuru “Economic Stabilization Plan” after the man has completely destabilized the Nigerian economy beyond redemption. Nobody is fooled! #RevolutionNow”, Sowore wrote.
The Tinubu administration’s bad leadership has plunged Nigerians into unimaginable hardship, exacerbating the country’s already precarious economic and social conditions.
Since assuming office in 2023, the APC led administration’s policies and actions have only served to worsen the lives of Nigerians. One of the most significant hardships faced by Nigerians is the escalating cost of living.
The administration’s economic policy has led to a surge in inflation, making it difficult for Nigerians to afford basic necessities like food, healthcare, fuel, education, etc. The prices of staple foods have skyrocketed, leaving many families struggling to make ends meet.
The implementation of neoliberal policies under the Tinubu administration has only served to compound the already dire economic situation in Nigeria, bringing untold suffering to the citizenry. From the controversial removal of fuel subsidies to the government’s staunch adherence to the dictates of the IMF, these measures have triggered a downward spiral of inflation, unemployment, and growing poverty. Despite the government’s persistent defense of its policies, the Nigerian people have seen no relief from the economic pain that has become their daily reality.
