We, the Take It Back Movement, express our profound outrage and disappointment at the recent announcement by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Ltd. to increase petrol prices to an astonishing N950.22 per liter.
As a Movement committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of Nigerians, we find this increase both alarming and unacceptable, particularly considering the severe economic hardships inflicted on Nigerians by the current regime.
It is also utterly unconscionable that the NNPC Ltd would resort to negotiating PMS prices directly with the Dangote Refinery, washing its hands of any responsibility for the welfare of the Nigerian people.
The Movement views this as a dereliction of duty and a blatant disregard for the principles of accountability and transparency.
Furthermore, we find it deeply troubling that NNPC Ltd is conducting transactions in USD, despite the fact that the Naira remains Nigeria’s official currency. This decision smacks of insensitivity and a worrying lack of concern for the country’s economic stability and sovereignty.
As a Movement dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of Nigerians, we demand that the NNPC immediately reconsider this ill-conceived decision and prioritize the welfare of the citizens it purports to serve.
The Take It Back Movement remains committed to holding the government and its agencies accountable for their actions and will continue to vehemently oppose any policy that adversely affects the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians.
