What They Preach Is not What They Do, Written by Adeola Soetan

Please tell me one Babalawo, Oluwo or Egbeji who arrested or went to court to prosecute because he’s abused, his opele or Egungun regalia was burnt by fanatical Muslims or Christians over the decades of attacks on Traditional faith. None to the best of knowledge.

Why? Because those traditionalists have strong conviction in the power of their Olodumare & deities to revenge on their behalf any wrong done to them on their behalf without resorting to foreign acquired legal adjudication process. That’s why they say, “Alangba to ba lori Esu, ohun ti Esu le le jo”. That’s any lizard that perches on Esu deity is it’s problem with Esu lakaye”. That’s the extent of the African belief system and the potency of their deities, true of false. .

In those olden days, any Egungun and his noisy crowd passing in front of churches, mosques and iledi Ogboni, always kept mute as a sign of respect and tolerance. But if any Egungun became wayward and didn’t observe the ritual of temporary silence particularly in front of ROF iledi , nobody would threaten him before coming to apologize to the Oluwo or Apena with his self fine to appease to the deities, particularly Esu Lalu, Elekun n’sunkun, Laroye n’sun Eje.

The Christian doctrine as laid down in the Bible says that : ” Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord” is a Bible verse from Romans 12:19. The verse is a call to not take revenge, but to leave it to God.

Explanation
The verse is a reminder that God is the ultimate judge and that he will repay people according to their actions. The verse is a call to trust God to handle wrongdoings, and to not seek vengeance with impure motives.

The verse is a reminder that God will intervene in a way that is best for all parties involved.
The verse is a reminder that God’s justice may not be immediately noticeable, but that he will intervene in his own time.

Meaning: Many “men of God” and “men of Allah” never believe in what their scriptures and what their faiths say, and in what they preach despite their kurukere kurukere religionism. But sadly, the same people will preach we should believe and pray for corrupt rogue leaders because they are appointed by God /Allah to punish their fellow citizens and unleash bad governance and mass poverty on them.

Lesson: Foreign acquired religions are class biased in focus and implementation of those verses in their scriptures.
