The Edo State Chapter of the Take It Back (TIB) Movement has condemned the attack on Activist Precious Oruche, popularly known as MamaPee, at the Benin City airport.
In a statement issued by Comrade Amarndo, Edo State Coordinator of TIB, he described the assault as “shameless” and alleged that it was carried out by thugs sponsored by Julius Abure, the factional chairman of the Labour Party, LP.

According to the statement, MamaPee’s bold use of social media to highlight societal injustices has made her a target, but her activism remains crucial for driving positive change in Nigeria.
“This unwarranted attack is a reminder of the security lapse in Edo State, a situation where thugs can gain access into the airport and assault someone without security agencies being able to stop them,” the statement read.
The Edo State chapter of the Take It Back Movement called on security agencies to urgently apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators while urging government authorities to take concrete steps to safeguard citizens’ rights to freely express themselves without fear or intimidation.
TIB further declared its solidarity with MamaPee and other activists challenging the status quo, stressing that such intimidation would not silence the movement.
“This attack will not silence our voices; instead, it will amplify it. Injustice to one is injustice to all,” the statement concluded.
Earlier reports had revealed that Mama Pee was attacked at the Benin Airport by thugs suspected to be loyal to Abure at the Benin Airport following her reported confrontation with him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where she accused him of frustrating Nigerians.
According to eyewitnesses, Mama Pee saw Abure at the airport trying to board a plane and told him, “Is it not Julius Abure? You’re the one frustrating Nigerians.” Abure responded with, “How can?” Mama Pee continued, “In case nobody has told you, you’re the one frustrating Nigerians. Are you not Julius Abure? What are you now doing with Labour Party? Police are looking for you. You’ve destroyed the Labour Party, and you’re entering an aeroplane? May God punish all of you.”
The situation escalated upon arrival at Benin Airport, where Mama Pee was reportedly attacked by suspected thugs loyal to Abure.
