Take It Back Movement Secures Release of Actress Doris Ogala After Police Re-Arrest in Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force has released Nollywood actress Doris Ogala in Lagos after she was re-arrested in Abuja shortly after being granted bail.

According to SR, Ogala was brought to Lagos by a police team from the Zone 2 Command.

The situation reportedly became tense when her lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, tried to record the police actions. Sources said police officers attacked the lawyer, seized his phones, and then escorted Ogala on a flight to Lagos.

It was at that point that Jamiu Towolawi, popularly known as Jharmo, a Lagos-based leader of the Take It Back Movement, intervened and ensured that the actress was released on bail, SR gathered.

Following her release, Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries (also known as Grace Nation Liberation City), met with Ogala. He reportedly appealed to her to embrace peace and end the ongoing dispute.

“Today, a Take It Back Movement leader, Jamiu Towolawi, aka Jharmo, arrived at the Zone 2 Command and demanded Doris Ogala’s immediate release,” a source told SR.

“Pastor Chris Okafor, who is at the centre of the controversy that led to her arrest, later arrived at the command in Onikan. He pleaded with her to allow peace to prevail. It was clear the arrest was meant to intimidate her, but when that failed, the pastor reportedly went on his knees to beg,” the source added.

According to the source, Pastor Okafor and Ogala held a private meeting for about an hour in a secluded location without any third parties present. After the meeting, the police released Ogala on what they described as ‘health grounds’, with Jharmo standing as her surety.

The police also returned the two phones earlier seized from lawyer Marshal Abubakar. Officers reportedly asked that a video of the arrest be deleted, claiming they could not access the phones. However, the Comrade Jharmo rejected the condition, and the police eventually allowed Ogala to leave without deleting the video.

Earlier reports had revealed that the matter began as a legal dispute over an alleged promise to marry, but later took a dramatic turn.

On Saturday, Ogala was arrested while speaking during a live-streamed interview. The arrest happened in real time when the programme host suddenly asked her, “The police are in your house?”
She responded, “Yes, the police are in my house.” The arrest followed a series of allegations made by Ogala against Pastor Chris Okafor, whom she had accused of breaking a promise to marry her.

On Friday, the actress shared and later deleted a post showing a man she claimed was Pastor Okafor in a private bedroom setting. She alleged the pastor had just engaged in sex and warned that she would release a full video.

Last week, Ogala, through her lawyers, Synergy Law Partners, issued a demand letter dated December 16, 2025, asking for ₦1 billion in damages from Pastor Okafor over what they described as a broken promise of marriage.

The letter, addressed to the pastor’s residence in Ojodu Berger, gave him 21 days to respond or face legal action. According to her lawyers, Ogala claimed that Pastor Okafor made a clear and consistent promise to marry her, which formed the basis of a relationship that began in 2017. They said the relationship started when the actress was emotionally vulnerable and had approached the pastor for spiritual guidance.

Her legal team argued that the promise went beyond words, citing introductions to his family, joint attendance at family events, and other actions that allegedly confirmed his intention to marry her.

The lawyers stated that Ogala has evidence, including photos, videos, WhatsApp messages and bank records, to support her claims. They further alleged that she relied heavily on the promise and took major life decisions based on it, including leaving a troubled marriage and abandoning reconciliation efforts.

Ogala also claimed that she transferred ₦45 million to Pastor Okafor in one transaction and allowed him access to her finances because she trusted his promise of marriage. While acknowledging that no one can be forced into marriage, her lawyers argued that the law allows compensation for breach of promise and the emotional and financial harm allegedly suffered by the actress.
