A Statement of Victory, Courage, and People Power

A Statement of Victory, Courage, and People Power

Today, I congratulate Omoyele Sowore for standing firm against oppression, intimidation, and state-sponsored persecution.
In the face of harassment under Kayode Egbetokun. Sowore endured humiliation, torture, broken bones, blackmail, bullying, unlawful incarceration, and relentless attempts to silence him. Yet through it all, he refused to bend.

That alone speaks volumes.
Despite every dirty tactic deployed by the government and its institutions, he emerged standing, not just as a survivor, but as a symbol of resistance and conscience for millions of Nigerians.

I am especially glad you lived to witness the very outcome you demanded: “Egbetokun must go.” And today, we say it clearly: The people won.

This moment is bigger than any individual. It is a reminder that courage still matters. That persistence still counts. That tyranny is never permanent. And that when citizens refuse to submit to fear, even the most powerful structures can crack.

Thank you, Sowore, for your resilience. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for showing a generation that leadership is not about titles — it is about standing up when it costs everything. You remain a great and inspiring leader.

Signed,
Dr. Chidi Nwanyanwu
