PRESS STATEMENT

Nigerians Should Disregard CP Jimoh’s Utterances, He Is Now A Content Creator

The Take It Back Movement urges her members, the people of Oworonshoki, and well meaning Nigerians to disregard the recent utterances by the Commissioner of Police in charge of Lagos State, Moshood Jimoh declaring our Convener, Omoyele Sowore wanted for leading Nigerians on a historic march for their rights.

It is sad that CP Jimoh, a Policeman for 25 years doesn’t know that he had no legal basis to declare Sowore or anyone wanted days after he threatened Sowore while he was illegally incarcerated in Kuje prison.

This is either a show of shame that calls for an overhaul of the recruitment and educational system for Police officers or he has joined the ever growing list of content creators in the country who provide comedic succour for millions of Nigerians suffering under the weight of harsh economic realities and brutality meted out by the Police as well.

We condemn the brazen tactics of suppression deployed by the Police on protesters and the arrest of people.

We demand the immediate release of all those arrested, the resignation of CP Jimoh after he comes clean on his interest in the eviction of the people of Oworonshoki so that he can focus on his content creation career.

Signed
Ayowole Sanyaolu Juwon
National Coordinator
