WE WILL PROTEST RENEWED WAVE OF DEMOLITION IN OWORONSHOKI

The Take It Back Movement, Lagos State Chapter, condemns in the strongest terms the ongoing demolition currently being carried out in Oworonshoki. What is taking place is not development but a deliberate act of oppression, a humanitarian crisis, and a shameful assault on the rights and dignity of innocent residents.

At a time when the economic hardship in the country is already unbearable, the Lagos State Government has chosen to add to the suffering of the people by forcefully destroying homes, livelihoods, and entire communities without proper notice, due process, or resettlement plans. Families who have lived peacefully in the area for decades are being thrown into the streets, left with nothing but the rubble of what used to be their homes.

It is unacceptable that a government that has failed to provide housing, failed to secure meaningful employment, and failed to address the daily struggles of its citizens now finds energy to demolish the very shelters people built with their sweat. This is wickedness disguised as development.

We call for the immediate suspension of all demolition activities in Oworonshoki and demand a transparent, people-centered engagement with the affected community. The government must be held accountable for the pain, trauma, and displacement it has inflicted on thousands of residents.

The Take It Back Movement stands firmly with the people of Oworonshoki. We will not fold our arms while innocent citizens are being rendered homeless. An injury to one is an injury to all.

Signed:
Adekunle Adeyemi Taofeek (Scotty Aluta)
Lagos State Coordinator,
Take It Back Movement
