A leader of the Take It Back Movement, TIB, in Lagos State, Prince Ope-yemi Benjamin, has stated that a councillor representing Ward 10 in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, Olukunle Oluyinka, of allegedly invading and demolishing private property in Lala Etile Village.
Benjamin made the allegation in a statement on Tuesday, where he claimed that the councillor had been linked to the alleged invasion and demolition of private property in the community.
According to him, efforts by the police to invite Oluyinka to the station for a meeting over the matter had failed on three different occasions.
“Olukunle Oluyinka, Councilor Ward 10, Ewekoro Local Government, Ogun State has been accused of invading and demolition of private property in Lala Etile Village, Ewekoro Local Govt., Ogun State,” Benjamin stated.
He further claimed that the police had made three attempts to invite the councillor for a meeting, but that all the efforts proved unsuccessful.
Benjamin warned that the use of public office in connection with what he described as “presumed illegality” would not be accepted by Nigerians.
He also called on anyone who knows the councillor to pass a message to him that members of the public would seek to visit his office at the Ewekoro Local Government Council or, possibly, his family residence.
“If you know him, kindly extend our greetings to him that the masses will visit his office at the Local Government Council, or possibly his family house,” he said.
Benjamin added that public office holders must not use their positions in ways that undermine the rights of citizens, stressing the need for a society where nobody is oppressed.
“Using public offices for such presumed illegality will not be condoned by the Nigerian masses,” he said.
He concluded with the call: “We must all build a nation where no man is oppressed,” alongside the hashtag #WeCantContinueLikeThis.
