We Say Enough! Condemning Extrajudicial Killings and Demanding Police Accountability

The Take It Back Movement – Student Wing expresses deep sorrow and outrage over the recent extrajudicial killing of an innocent Secondary School Student at the hands of officers of the Nigerian Police Force.

This senseless act of brutality further reveals the deep-rooted rot and systemic abuse within the ranks of the Nigerian Police, which continues to operate with impunity and disregard for the sanctity of human life.

Under the failed and illegitimate leadership of IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the police force has become a symbol of fear and oppression rather than protection and service.

Instead of focusing on maintaining law and order and safeguarding the rights of citizens, the Nigerian Police Force has continued its descent into a culture of violence, unprofessionalism, and criminality.

Extrajudicial killings, unlawful detentions, harassment, and violent suppression of peaceful citizens have become all too common and this latest tragedy is one brutality too many.

As a movement committed to justice, equity, and the rights of all Nigerians, particularly the youth and students who are often the primary targets of this institutional abuse, we categorically condemn this latest act of violence.

We demand the immediate identification, arrest, and prosecution of the officers involved in this heinous act. We also call for an urgent and independent investigation into the broader pattern of police misconduct and abuse.

We give the authorities a 24-hour ultimatum to act. Should there be no concrete steps taken within this timeframe, we will be forced to take to the streets in protest.

The cries of Nigerian youths cannot continue to fall on deaf ears. We will no longer tolerate a system that enables murderers in uniform while stifling the voices of the people.

This is a call to conscience. A call for justice. A call for national accountability. The lives of Nigerian citizens matter. We will not be silenced. We will not back down.
